How the course is structured

The Part Time Course is run over a 10 week period from (every Saturday). Input sessions take place at the Training Centre in Bangkok and last for 3 hours. There are two 3-hour sessions every Saturday.

The Part Time Course classroom sessions are supplemented by 35 hours of online study and a further 25 hours tutor-evaluated teaching sessions.

Classroom Sessions

Input sessions are held at the Teacher Training Centre in Bangkok every Saturday for ten weeks. These full day sessions provide the input time where theory and classroom practice technique will be discussed.  The sessions take the form of communicative training, interactive workshops, or multimedia presentations. A sample course outline is available here.

Teaching Practice

Over the 10 weeks of the course, participants will be required to provide proof of a minimum of 25 contact preiods with students of English.  These contact periods will preferably be in the participants' own teaching enviroment and all participants will be encouraged to hold a teaching post at an institute of learning during the period of the course.  The nature of these teaching practice sessions are negotiable to be discussed at the induction portion of the course. Participants without formal access to teaching opportunities can opt to volunteer for charitable organisations arranged by our training team.

Each participant on the course is also required to conduct four peer teaching sessions observed and supervised by the tutors.  These peer teaching sessions are recorded and provide excellent opportunities for feedback and development.

The CyberClass

During the break between training sessions, instruction and discussion continues on the online learning forum where participants can share experiences, explore resources and research topics in language and teaching theory.  These CyberClass sessions are held online and can be accessed from any convenient internet-based computer.

Assessment & Certificate

In order to pass the course, and receive your certificate, there are certain criteria which must be met. In addition to attending all of the input sessions, you will be required to submit 8 written assignments over the period of the course, and to teach a minimum of 6 hours of lessons. Receiving the certificate and passing the course is also subject to the Terms & Conditions of Study.
